PET imaging in the surgical management of pediatric tumors |

PET imaging with FDG and/or radiolabelled amino acids is useful in the management of children with brain tumors. The group at the Hospital Erasme found that PET significantly contributed when the newly diagnosed brain lesion was an incidental finding, in helping deciding between surgery and conservative MR follow-up, and in infiltrative or ill-defined lesions on MR.
