Position of a one year clinical residency training in Nuclear Medicine

The nuclear medicine department belongs to a university hospital of nearly 2.000 beds situated 20 kilometers from Brussels.

The department has a high clinical activity in all domains and has 15 years of PET experience. For this purpose 5 gamma cameras (1 triple, 3 double and 1 single head), 3 PET cameras (1 Siemens HR+ and 1 Biograph PET-CT 40 slice, 1 research Biograph PET CT 16), an in-house cyclotron (IBA 18/9) were installed.

The PET radiopharmacy lab will also be upgraded to fulfill to GMP rules.  The department has also a strong research program especially in clinical PET, radiopharmacy and medical imaging.  Research grants are obtained concerning neurology, psychiatry, tumour biology, treatment evaluation and gene imaging.  New SPECT and PET tracers are under development and new techniques of image reconstruction and processing are investigated.  A microPET (Focus,Concorde) is installed in a completely integrated small animal lab (MoSAIC); a high-sensitivity microSPECT is operational.  Clinical and applied contract research is carried out in cardiology, oncology and neurology. All those activities are supported by an academic team of MD’s, radiopharmacists, chemists, physicists and engineers. The applicant should be an MD allowed to practice medicine in Belgium.  The candidate should be able to speak Dutch (or should have the intention to learn the local language).  The candidate will be trained in all clinical aspects of nuclear medicine especially in PET.
